The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) formally launched its University-Level NEP Implementation Series with an inaugural lecture delivered by Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo, Vice Chancellor, IUST. The series aims to enhance awareness and encourage effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 across departments, centres and academic units of the University.
In his address, Prof. Romshoo highlighted various initiatives already undertaken by IUST in line with NEP 2020, including the Design Your Own Degree (DYOD) programme, the introduction of Skill Education modules, FYUGP, incubation centres, promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship and the establishment of the Kalam Academy of Skill Training. These, he noted, are steps toward creating a flexible, multidisciplinary, and student-centric learning environment.
Emphasising the importance of faculty engagement, Prof. Romshoo urged teachers to actively enrich their understanding of the NEP and integrate its guiding principles into their teaching, curriculum design, and departmental activities. “NEP implementation is a continuous process,” he stated, “and teachers, as the primary stakeholders, must take the lead in shaping the academic future envisioned in the policy.”
The event was attended by Dean Academic Affairs, Registrar, Finance Officer, Controller of Examination, Deans, Heads of Departments, Directors, and the entire teaching fraternity of the university, reflecting the collective commitment of the IUST community toward progressive academic reforms. The NEP Implementation series will continue with thematic sessions, capacity-building workshops, and departmental engagements to translate policy into action at all levels of the University’s functioning.
