Kupwara Police T20 cricket tournament ends in thrilling super over finish

Kupwara Police wrapped up the T20 Knockout Cricket Tournament with a thrilling finale at Galizoo Stadium, where Friends XI Lolab edged past Coaching Centre Kupwara in a dramatic super over to lift the title.

As per a statement issued on Wednesday, Kupwara Police successfully hosted the T20 Knockout Cricket Tournament under the Civic Action Programme 2025.

The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from sixteen teams representing various corners of the district fostering a spirit of healthy competition and unity.

The final clash between Friends XI Lolab and Coaching Centre Kupwara culminated in a nail-biting super over where Friends XI Lolab clinched the title in spectacular fashion.

The event drew an overwhelming response from the public, with spectators from all parts of Kupwara thronging the stadium to witness the electrifying contest. Their spirited presence elevated the atmosphere, reaffirming the unifying and uplifting influence of sports.

The closing ceremony was graced by SSP Kupwara Ghulam Jeelani Wani, ASP G.M. Bhat, Inspector Reyaz Ahmad along with other senior officers. During the prize distribution, SSP Kupwara felicitated the winning and runner-up teams with trophies, mementos, and cash awards, lauding the players for their commendable talent, discipline, and sportsmanship.

In his address SSP Ghulam Jeelani Wani expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the youth’s active involvement and assured continued support for similar initiatives. He further announced that Kupwara Police will soon launch a series of diverse sports activities aimed at nurturing local talent and promoting a culture of positivity and wellness among the youth.

Kupwara Police remains steadfast in its mission to foster strong community ties and empower the younger generation through constructive and inclusive engagement.
