The Field Station of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM) at Bonera in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district hosted a one day Tulip Show on Wednesday.
Authorities revealed that CSIR-IIIM has launched a focused program under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Science and Technology to work on indigenous tulip bulb production.
Authorities told that under the initiative around one lakh tulip bulbs have been cultivated across 12 kanals of land at the Field Station.
“The program aims to reduce import dependency, promote domestic tulip cultivation, and foster an agritech ecosystem,” the authorities said.
The Field Station was opened to the public on Wednesday drawing a good response. Students and general public were enthralled by the vibrant tulip fields, experiencing first-hand the breath-taking bloom and the region’s untapped floricultural potential.
