KU’s Saleem clinches Bronze in All India Inter-University Wushu C’ship

Mohammad Saleem from the University of Kashmir secured a Bronze medal in the 60 Kg weight category at the ongoing All India Inter-University Wushu (Men & Women) Championship at Chandigarh University.

Despite suffering a severe elbow injury, which required hospitalization for a few hours, Saleem demonstrated extraordinary grit, determination and resilience by returning to the ring to compete for the bronze medal. He triumphed over Naresh from Manipur to claim the prestigious award, bringing glory to the University of Kashmir at the national level.

KU Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan congratulated Saleem on his outstanding achievement, praising his perseverance in such a highly competitive sport. She also commended the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPE&S) for its continued efforts in promoting sports at the national level and providing students the opportunity to compete in highly competitive tournaments.

Registrar of KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, also congratulated Saleem, emphasizing that the university remains committed to supporting and facilitating sports activities in alignment with the National Sports Policy, 2024, launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

Dr. Surjeet Singh, Coordinator of DPE&S KU, reiterated the Directorate’s commitment to elevating the university’s sports ecosystem to new heights, ensuring students are provided with every opportunity to excel in competitive sports. The university contingent was escorted by Sajid Yousuf Dar, Football Coach, serving as the Manager.
