Kashmir emerges as one of safest tourist destinations in 2024

Kashmir Valley has reaffirmed its reputation as a haven for tourists, with officials reporting only a single crime against visitors in 2024. This remarkable statistic comes in a year when the valley has welcomed over 3 million tourists, including over 40,000 international travellers.

Visitors to Kashmir have consistently praised the efforts of the government, security forces, and stakeholders, such as hoteliers, houseboat owners and shikara owners, for ensuring their safety. A tourist from Bangalore expressed her delight, stating, “We have been exploring the valley freely, even late at night, without any fear. The warmth and hospitality here are unparalleled.”

The only reported incident this year occurred in Pahalgam, underlines the valley’s overall safety record. Stakeholders in the tourism industry have taken proactive steps to curb overcharging and provide transparent services, enhancing the trust of visitors. “Kashmir truly feels like the safest place to be. The stories you hear in the national media don’t reflect the reality here,” added the tourist from Bangalore.
The government and tourist police have played a pivotal role in maintaining vigilance, ensuring a hassle-free and memorable experience for all visitors. A local houseboat owner in Srinagar remarked, “We treat tourists as our family. Their happiness and safety are our priorities.”

Foreign tourists, who form a significant part of the visitors to the valley, have also echoed these sentiments. A traveller from Germany noted, “Kashmir’s natural beauty is matched only by its people’s kindness. I have felt secure and welcomed throughout my journey.”
The valley’s ability to provide such a secure environment amidst the influx of millions of visitors is proof to its preparedness and the collective efforts of all involved. Tourists continue to be awestruck by the breathtaking beauty of Kashmir, from its serene Dal Lake to the majestic Gulmarg slopes.

“Every corner of Kashmir tells a story of peace and harmony,” said a couple from Mumbai. “We urge everyone to come and experience this paradise firsthand.”
With a vigilant administration, dedicated stakeholders, and an ever-growing sense of hospitality, Kashmir is proving to be a jewel of safety and scenic splendour. The valley hopes to welcome even more travellers to witness its unparalleled charm.
