SKUAST-K’s IBPR, KM training institute organise entrepreneurship awareness program

The Institute of Business and Policy Research (IBPR) SKUAST-K in collaboration with KM Technical Training and Management Institute, Srinagar, organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Program focused on self-employment opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors.
The event brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, students and professionals eager to explore the vast potential of the agricultural sector. The primary objective of the program was to inspire and equip participants with knowledge about self-employment opportunities in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and other allied sectors. Through the program, participants gained a deeper understanding of how to leverage the dynamic and evolving agricultural landscape to build successful entrepreneurial ventures.
Dr Farheen Naqash, Coordinator and Scientist at IBPR, highlighted the immense potential that agriculture and its allied sectors offer for innovation, value addition, and self-employment. “By embracing modern techniques, sustainable practices, and entrepreneurial thinking, traditional agricultural approaches can be transformed into thriving businesses that contribute to individual success and community well-being,” she said.
Dr Abid Sultan, Organizing Secretary and Scientist at IBPR, spoke about the importance of self-employment in the agricultural sector, underscoring its role as a key driver of economic growth and rural development. He encouraged participants to explore innovative business models, embrace modern agricultural practices, and take advantage of the resources and support available through various institutions.
Dr Sultan said the program was designed to inspire participants to think beyond conventional self-employment ventures and to explore innovation and creativity in their entrepreneurial pursuits.
Mr Junaid Yawar, Director of KM Technical Training and Management Institute, Srinagar, remarked that the aim of the program was to empower youth with the knowledge and skills needed to transform the agricultural sector into a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship.
“Agriculture is not only a source of livelihood for millions but also a foundation of the economy and a driving force for sustainable development,” he said, adding that the collaboration between IBPR SKUAST-K and KMTMMI is intended to bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that youth are well-equipped to face the challenges of the future.
