A week-long training programme on “AI Application for Smart Livestock” was inaugurated today at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Shuhama campus of SKUAST-K by Prof. Shayaib Ahmad Kamil, Dean F.V.Sc. & A.H. and chief guest of the function. The training is organized by the Division of Livestock Production & Management, F.V.Sc. & A.H., SKUAST-K in collaboration with College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, SKUAST-K from 10th – 16th December 2024 under the aegis of Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP).
The inauguration function was chaired by Prof Shoaib A. Kamil (Dean, FVSc and AH). Prof Azmat Alam Khan (OSD to VC), Prof Rohitashw Kumar (Associate Dean, CoAE&T and PI of HADP Project 17), Prof MT Banday (Professor, LPM), Prof Hilal Musadiq Khan (Professor, LPM) and other faculty members were also present during the event. The training received an overwhelming response and a total of 25 participants were shortlisted for the same.
Prof. Shoaib Kamil commended the organisers for their efforts and highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence in the livestock sector. He stressed the need to integrate technologies like sensors, artificial intelligence, and machine learning with traditional practices for revamping the sector and improving behaviour analysis, early disease prediction, enhancing productivity, social interactions and automation. Prof. Azmat Alam Khan, OSD to Vice Chancellor and Guest of Honour on the occasion, praised the endeavour and emphasized the importance of such programs.
