Soliha Zahoor wins Jehlum women’s cycle rally

Soliha Zahoor, a student of Green Valley Educational Institute, secured first place in the 4th edition of the Jehlum Women’s Cycle Rally, a 67-kilometer race from Baramulla to Kaman Aman Setu.

A statement said that the “Drug-Free Kashmir” event saw over 100 women cyclists participating to promote health, fitness, and social change.

Organised by the Dagger Division of the Indian Army in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Tourism and the District Administration of Baramulla, the rally emphasized resilience and hope. Soliha’s exceptional performance earned her accolades from organizers and participants. “This rally is about more than winning—it’s about empowerment and advocating for a drug-free society,” she said after her victory.

Her triumph comes as she prepares for the 29th National Road Cycling Championship in Puri, Odisha, from December 7 to 10. Soliha, who also competed in the 28th National Road Cycling Championship in January, has established herself as one of Jammu and Kashmir’s most promising athletes.

Chairman of Green Valley Educational Institute, Mohammed Yusuf Wani, congratulated Soliha on her achievement, calling her an inspiration for her peers. “Soliha’s success reflects her dedication and the importance of nurturing young talent. She is a role model for students and athletes alike,” he remarked.

The entire Green Valley family celebrated her victory and wished her success at the nationals. As Soliha prepares to represent the region on the national stage, her journey inspires hope and determination among young athletes. Prominent dignitaries, including Major General Paranvir Singh Punia, SM, VSM, and Brigadier Rajat Mohan Bhatt, PhD, lauded the participants and highlighted the importance of fostering a drug-free environment.
