Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is set to inaugurate multiple developmental projects at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura on its annual day on Thursday. The initiatives aim to enhance patient care facilities at the institute.
SKIMS will celebrate its 42nd Annual Day on December 05. The institute was established in 1982 under the leadership of Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah with the objective to provide specialized healthcare services to the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
PRO SKIMS, Kulsum Bhat said the CM is set to inaugurate day care unit, university block SKIMS, sports ground, CT Simulator, transport yard, OT Emergency, attendant shelter at State Cancer Institute and attendant shelter at SKIMS Maternity Hospital.
The Chief Minister along with his Council of Ministers and Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo will grace the occasion. Dr. A.K Nagpal former Director SKIMS will deliver Sheri-Kashmir Oration.
Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie, Director SKIMS & EOSG will present the director’s report highlighting activities and achievements and an overview of recent developments under his leadership.
The PRO said the event will highlight the achievements of the institution with a special focus on best patient care practices, academic excellence and high end research.
“SKIMS exhibition will be the main highlight of the event showcasing innovative contributions from various departments. SKIMS Oration, Release of Annual Report, SKIMS Tarana and documentary film will be the other highlights of the event,” she said.
SKIMS will also award its faculty and employees for their exemplary work. “The institute has worked steadfastly towards its mission of becoming a dedicated place of learning, teaching and compassionate healthcare,” the PRO said.
Kulsum said over the decades, SKIMS has fulfilled the vision of its founder by delivering specialised patient care while also offering top-tier medical education and training.
The Organizing Secretary of the event, Dr. G.H. Yatoo said that preparations are in full swing to ensure its success. In addition to 1,000 medical experts, participants from various fields, including politics, civil society, the judiciary, and police, will attend the event.
SKIMS is the only medical university in the Union Territory of J&K. In addition to the main super speciality hospital, it comprises State Cancer Institute, Maternity Hospital, Nursing College, Paramedical College, and an affiliated Medical College and Hospital at Bemina
