Kashmir-based powerlifter Fardeem Hussain to compete at prestigious global event

In a positive development, 21-year-old Kashmiri powerlifter Fardeem Hussain is gearing up to represent India at the prestigious IBFF Powerlifting World Championship in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 9-10.

Fardeem Hussain, hailing from Srinagar, earlier this year clinched a gold medal at the national-level World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) competition, becoming the first young Kashmiri powerlifter to accomplish this feat.

This remarkable accomplishment has now paved the way for Hussain to showcase his exceptional strength and skill on the international stage. The IBFF Powerlifting World Championship will feature top athletes from around the globe, and Fardeem Hussain is determined to bring glory to his country.

“I am thrilled and honoured to represent India at the world championship. This is a dream come true for me, and I am grateful for the support from my mentor Ishtiyaq Ahmad Khan, my family, and the local community,” said an elated Fardeem Hussain.

Fardeem Hussain’s training regimen has intensified in preparation for the championship, with a focus on building strength, perfecting his technique, and cultivating mental resilience. He is confident in his abilities and is eager to learn from the experience of competing against the world’s best powerlifters.

This historic moment marks the first time that an athlete from Jammu and Kashmir will participate in an international powerlifting competition, further highlighting the emerging talent in the region. Hussain’s journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes in the valley, who now have a role model to look up to.

As Fardeem Hussain sets out to conquer the global stage, the eyes of the nation will be firmly fixed on his performance, eagerly awaiting the moment when he brings home the triumph that will solidify his place in the annals of Indian sports history.
