Kapil Dev lauds J&K Tourism’s efforts in promoting golf

Cricket legend and Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) President Kapil Dev commended Jammu & Kashmir Tourism for its dedication to promoting golf during a press conference in New Delhi.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming PGTI tournament at the Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC), scheduled for October 22-27, 2024, Dev expressed his enthusiasm for the region’s commitment to expanding golf’s reach.

“I applaud J&K for taking this initiative. It’s a door opener for everyone,” Dev remarked, adding, “I promise to visit Jammu to witness the game myself.” His endorsement comes as 126 national and international players prepare to compete in the prestigious tournament, further solidifying Jammu’s status as an emerging golf destination.

Under the leadership of Yasha Mudgal, Secretary of J&K Tourism, golf tourism in the region has seen significant growth. Her efforts have been instrumental in promoting the sport and positioning Jammu as a rising golf destination. This year marks the third consecutive PGTI event hosted by JTGC, underscoring the course’s growing prominence.

The 18-hole JTGC, set against Jammu’s picturesque backdrop, offers unique challenges for professional golfers. Kapil Dev’s presence is expected to bring additional visibility to the event and the region.

Manav Gupta, Secretary of Jammu Tawi Golf Course, continues to ensure a high-quality golfing experience, contributing to its reputation as a premier venue for national and international tournaments.

Kapil Dev’s support highlights J&K’s increasing influence on the Indian golf scene. With J&K Tourism actively developing infrastructure and hosting top-tier events, the region is steadily establishing itself on the global golfing map. Dev’s recognition not only highlights current achievements but also sets the stage for future growth in the sport.
