IAF UWM car rally reaches Srinagar

The Indian Air Force-Uttarakhand War Memorial (UWM) historic car rally arrived in Srinagar today.
This first-of-its-kind rally is covering 7,000 kilometers, starting from the Siachen Air Base at Thoise, passing through Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, and culminating in Delhi for a grand finale in mid-November.
Fifteen 4×4 Jimmy’s, driven by senior Air Force personnel, are traversing India’s highways, with two women army officers—renowned mountaineers, one of whom has summited Mount Everest—are also participating. They received a resounding send-off in Leh from Lieutenant Governor,  Ladakh Brigadier (Retd) B.D. Mishra, alongside thousands of Ladakhi youth. A similar grand send-off is planned in Srinagar, attended by top dignitaries.

The rally participants were welcomed by the Station Commander of the Srinagar Air Base, Air Commodore Prabhat Malik, along with the Chairman of the Uttarakhand War Memorial, Tarun Vijay. The rally is led by Wing Commander Vijay Prakash Bhatt, a celebrated adventurist.
The purpose of the rally is to inspire youth to join the Indian Air Force, to raise awareness of its remarkable achievements, and to cultivate respect and love for the armed forces, encouraging the values of living a soldier’s life as a proud Indian warrior.
