District Sport Climbing Competitions of Kashmir to start

District Sport Climbing Competitions of Kashmir division shall kick start on September 28, 2024 with the conduct of competitions of Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama and Shopian districts on September 28 and 29.
The competitions shall be organized under the supervision of Abdul Mohsin, Joint Secretary (Kashmir) of Mountaineering Association of J&K and with the active collaboration of Tourism Department Kashmir.
The district championships have been sponsored by J&K Sports Council.

About 300 climbers from the four districts of Kashmir division are likely to vie for honors in the two day competition which may extend to the third day in case the competitions are not completed on the first two days.

The competitions will be conducted on the pre-fabricated 40ft high Tourism Sport Climbing Wall at TRC, Nowgam and shall be held in eight categories of Men, Women (born in 2007 and earlier), Boys, Girls (born in 2008, 2009 & 2010); Sub Jr. Boys/Girls (born in 2011 and 2012) and Mini Boys/Girls (born in 2013 and after). The competitions in all the categories shall be held in ‘lead climbing’ only.
However, there shall be demonstrations in speed climbing by senior climbers at the time of inauguration of the championship.

It may also be noted that selection of climbers for participation in the UT Championship shall be conducted on the basis of the results of the district competitions.
A handout stated that for further information interested climbers/institutions should contact the Joint Secretary (K) of Mountaineering Association of J&K, Abdul Mohsin.
On the spot registration shall also be done at Sport Climbing Wall at TRC, Nowgam from 8 am to 8.30 am on September 28, 2024 for limited number of participants.
