Scientist-Dairy Entrepreneurs Meet held at KVK-Bandipora

Kashvet Innovations Private Limited (SKUAST-K Start-up), in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry, Bandipora, organized a Scientist-Dairy Entrepreneurs Meet at KVK-Bandipora.

The programme was held Under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the start-up in which  65 dairy entrepreneurs from across Bandipora district participated and interacted with scientists from the university,KVK and officers of the Animal Husbandry department.

The event was chaired by the Founder, Kashvet Innovations Private Limited, Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Reshi and Co-chaired by Director of the start-up, Dr Gowher Gull Sheikh. Scientist (Animal Science), Dr Nazir Ahmad and Veterinary officer, Dr Sayim Qureshi were also present and interacted with the participating entrepreneurs.

The participants raised various issues of management, feeding, breeding and animal health that were patiently heard upon and answered by the experts on spot. “We are organising such interaction programmes with the dairy and sheep entrepreneurs in all districts for their skill and knowledge updation and this was second such programme in this month” Dr Reshi said

Participation of Irfan Ahmad Khan, faculty in the Department of Large Animal Medicine and Surgery in the Saint George’s University, Granada was the highlight of the programme who termed the initiative a noble one and highly beneficial for the farmers “I have been deputed by my university for externship with the Kashvet Innovations to learn how SKUAST-K start-up connect with the farmers by formulating and commercialising the feed and feed supplements and there is lot to learn, how meticulously it is done over here” Irfan said. “We will go back and replicate the model in Granada were dairy farmers face lot of problems with respect to animal feeding” he added.

At the end of the interaction programme region specific mineral supplement for cows, “Kashmin-Plus” was distributed among the participating dairy entrepreneurs free of cost. Several dairy units were also visited by the experts to assess the management practices followed by the dairy farmers and on spot instructions with respect to scientific management of the farms were passed on.
