The “bcpbf-The Cancer Foundation” in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals is set to organize a landmark conference on “Precision Oncology” in Srinagar on July 20 that is expected to bring together nearly 100 cancer surgeons in J&K.
The first of kind conference has been organized to bridge the gap between cutting-edge medical technologies and their implementation in Jammu and Kashmir’s healthcare system.
Dr. Sameer Kaul, Founder & President of the bcpbf-THE CANCER FOUNDATION in India has been organizing regular cancer camps to bring early detection and treatment to patients who can’t reach out to hospitals.
He is a spokesperson for global health issues like the Anti-Tobacco campaign and Breast Cancer Awareness. Many conferences, medical journals and studies stand by his name.
Dr Kaul said the event is expected to bring together over 100 specialists from various medical fields including oncology, neurosurgery, and general medicine. Health experts and administrators from across the valley are also expected to attend.
“We need to have similar treatment for patients just like other parts of the country. Upgradation of standards of treatment is my motive and I owe it to the people,” he said.
“Now robotics has come in a big way in the country and also across the world. It is an accepted way of treatment and has many advantages over open surgery,” he said.
He said in Jammu and Kashmir, robotic surgery is still not a reality saying that there is a need to introduce it and there is need to train the doctors so that they are able to better the results of patients.
“The buzz should be started so that people start talking about it and discussing it. We want to put pressure on the government to bring these modern technologies to our region,” he said.
Dr Koul, a senior consultant surgical and clinical Oncology, Apollo Hospitals said there is no dearth of skilled researchers in the valley and there is a need to provide them infrastructure from time to time.
Precision Oncology is an innovative approach to cancer treatment that ensures treatment is specifically designed and targeted to your unique form of cancer.
At the event, Dr. Kaul will emphasize the advantages of precision oncology and robotic surgery. He compared robotic surgery to custom tailoring saying that just as a tailor measures each part of the customer to achieve a perfect fit, robotic surgery provides precision in medical procedures.
He highlighted the benefits of robotic surgery, such as reduced blood loss, minimal injury, and shorter hospital stays.
