7 GMCs, 800 MBBS seats added in J&K

Seven Government Medical Colleges and 800 MBBS seats have been added in Jammu and Kashmir after abrogation of article 370 0n 05 August 2019, reveals official data.

Official document available with Rising Kashmir reveals that seven new Govt Medical colleges have been operationalized while 28 B.Sc Nursing Colleges and 19 B.Sc Paramedic Colleges have been added.
800 more MBBS Seats have been added totaling to 1300 seats, the document reveals adding that presently 664 PG Medical Seats available out of which 297 PG Seats added after 2019.
The document also reveals that 1870 B.Sc. Nursing Seats and 125 M.Sc Nursing Seats have been added in Nursing Colleges.

The data in the document also reveals that 50 new degree colleges have also been established.
The academic session of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jammu has been made operational while the work on
AIIMS, Kashmir is going on at optimum speed, it said.
In higher education infrastructure, the document reveals that Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jammu, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu are functional, it said.
Jammu is the only city in the country to have IIT, IIM and AIIMS in one city, it added.
