Dr Riyaz Ahmad flags off solo cycling expedition from K2K..

Dr Riyaz Ahmad on Monday morning flagged off Kashmir to Kanyakumari (K2K) solo Un Supported cycling expedition of 27year-old athlete, Gopi Krishnan Kesavan from karur Tamilnadu, Lal Chowk, here.
The cyclist from Karur Tamilnadu is planning to complete the expedition for Set WUCA record in around 12 to 14 days by pedalling for around 16 to 18 hours daily.

The athlete began the ride at 7:40 am from the clock tower and is expected to reach Pathankot (Punjab) or Jammu City in the first leg. Gopi Krishnan has registered with World Ultra Cycling Association USA for set the record to complete the 3600 kilometres stretch via Srinagar, Udhampur, Ludhiana, Delhi, Gwalior, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kanyakumari.

The time taken by him to reach Kanyakumari will be a new record solo unsupported category by WUCA. This will be the first time said type of solo unsupported record will be set up in India.

Speaking at the occasion, Gopi said he wants to send out a message that solo unsupported cycling is a good for mental health and silent achievement for me and should believe in staying fit and healthy.
Dr Riaz Ahmed said this is a historic movement that a young Cycling Rider is attempting to set the record of solo Unsupported 3600km.
