10-day research capacity-building workshop concludes at SKUAST-K..

A 10-day workshop on research skills concluded at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir Shuhama campus on Friday.
The training program was organized by the varsity’s Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry under the World Bank-ICAR funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for the institutional development of SKUAST-K.

The workshop aimed at enhancing the skills of research scholars in laboratory techniques and manuscript writing. The workshop brought together more than 90 research scholars from diverse academic backgrounds. Throughout the ten days, participants engaged in a series of hands-on sessions, lectures, and interactive discussions led by eminent experts in the field. Likewise, participants had the opportunity to refine their laboratory skills through practical sessions led by experienced mentors.

The workshop covered advanced techniques, methodologies, and best practices in various research domains. A significant focus of the workshop was on enhancing the participants’ ability to write impactful manuscripts. Experts shared insights into effective literature review, manuscript structuring, data presentation, and strategies for successful publication in reputable journals. The event provided a platform for research scholars to network with peers and established professionals in their respective fields. This networking aspect aimed to create a supportive community for ongoing collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The valedictory function featured remarks from Dean FVSc&AH, Prof Tufail Banday, who commended the participants for their dedication and the organizers for curating a valuable program. OSD to Vice Chancellor, Prof Azmat Alam Khan, expressed gratitude to the participants, mentors, and sponsors who contributed to the success of the workshop. Prof Khan hinted at future editions of similar capacity-building initiatives which reinforced the participants’ commitment to fostering excellence in research and academic writing.

Management skill program on agripreneurship commences
A weeklong Existing-Management Development Program (E-MDP) on agri-preneurship development commenced at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, Wadura campus.
The training, ‘Agripreneurship Development Through Effective Value Chain Management of Agricultural Commodities’ is organised by SKUAST-K’s Division of Agricultural Economics & Statistics, Faculty of Agriculture, in collaboration with Govt. Degree College, Sopore under the sponsorship of the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof Raihana Habib Kanth, gave a detailed insight of the program and apprised the participants about the various success stories regarding the establishment of agro-based enterprises. She reiterated that the students should come forward with new ideas so that they can be helped by the University in the establishment of different ventures.

Head of the Division of Agri Economics & Statistics, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof Bilal A Bhat, said the program would expose the students to the broader areas and subjects of agripreneurship development.
Program Coordinator, Dr Sajad A Saraf, deliberated on the importance of agriculture and allied sectors and the opportunities of income and employment generation in agribusiness ventures. He said that the objective of imparting this training is to create an ambience of Good Marketing Practices and promote the interests of farmers as well as consumers, through the creation of a well-trained human resource.
