SKUAST-K holds 3 entrepreneurship awareness progs on veg production in Gbl

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) conducted three entrepreneurship awareness programs on high-value vegetable production in the Ganderbal district.
The awareness programs were organised by the SKUAST-K’s Division of Vegetable Sciences, Faculty of Horticulture under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Entreprises, Govt of India. ‘Importance and production technology of high-value vegetable crops’ at Watlar ‘Popularization of exotic vegetables to increase farm income’ at Kangan, and Scientific cultivation of high-value low volume vegetable crops at Patti Shalbugh in the Ganderbal district.
These programs were aimed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs, vegetable growers, youth and progressive farmers with the knowledge and resources necessary to thrive in this vegetable cultivation sector. About 50 participants were registered in each program.
The experts from the Division of Vegetable Science delivered lectures on critical aspects of high-value vegetable crop production. The lectures covered a spectrum of topics crucial to the growth and sustainability of the high-value vegetable crop industry, including innovative farming techniques, sustainable practices, market analysis, supply chain management, and the incorporation of advanced technologies.
Training Coordinator Dr Syed Berjes Zehra explained that empowering entrepreneurs, youth and women with the necessary tools and knowledge is pivotal to the sustainable growth and global competitiveness of the vegetable industry. Head Division of Vegetable Science, Dr Baseerat Afroza emphasised the role of these programs in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and empowering farmers with the requisite skills and knowledge to enhance crop productivity and quality, thereby improving their livelihood.
