The Women Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Centre of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Cell (CIED) at Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) on Wednesday organised a Women Entrepreneurship Awareness and Sensitisation Camp for students of Government Degree College, Awantipora with the aim to foster a culture of entrepreneurial spirit among aspiring women leaders.
Dr Parvez Ahmed Mir, Director CIED, exposed the participants to the global entrepreneurship culture, and entrepreneurship opportunities available. He shared inspiring success stories of ventures supported by CIED, IUST. Dr Rumaan Bashir, Coordinator of WEDC CIED, emphasised the criticality of skill development. She talked about initiatives taken by the Kalaam Academy of Skill Development at IUST.
Dr Ruheela Hassan (Member WEDC) said start-up culture is a reality and imbibing innovative spirit among the students is the need of the hour. She said that acquiring skills alongside formal education opens new vistas of opportunity.
During the visit, the students explored university facilities including DIC, DIT, and Rumi Library. The event was a part of the WEDC’s campaign towards nurturing women entrepreneurs in the region.
