SMC to install 1250 CCTVs to monitor traffic online

Authorities are all set to monitor the traffic system online in Srinagar by installing nearly 1250 Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) CCTVs across the district.
Srinagar Municipal Commissioner (SMC) Athar Aamir Khan who is also CEO of Srinagar Smart City Project told Rising Kashmir, “We are installing nearly 1250 Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) CCTV Cameras at 76 junctions and other areas of city and outskirts as well.”
He said that the ITMS CCTV cameras would be of different types.
Khan said that one of the CCTV Cameras that the department is installing is called Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). “With this camera we can identify the vehicle immediately for any sort of traffic violation.”
“Another camera is called Red Light Violation Detection which will help us in sending the Challan home to the violator of the red light signal,” he said.
Likewise, Khan also said that it will install Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) CCTV Cameras wherein the concerned authorities can identify the high speed and other traffic violators.
“The project plan is done; even the tendering has been allotted. Hopefully, in the coming 4-5month, all the 1250 cameras will be installed,” he said.
