NSDs’ ‘Drama in Education’ workshop begins at Srinagar

A 15 day long ‘Drama in Education’ workshop, being conducted by Theatre-in-Education Centre of National School of Drama, Srinagar, in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages began here on Monday.

The inaugural session was led by eminent theatre practitioners Manoj Bhatia and Hafeez Khan.

Diverse range of topics will be covered during the workshop by theatre persons, which is being personally monitored by NSD’s TIE Chief, Abdul Latief Khatana.

The workshop, conceptualized by Khatana, is being coordinated by NSD’s Srinagar coordinator, Gulzar Ganai, which is being participated by 20 students from across the valley.

Elaborating on the workshop, TIE chief said that the purpose of the workshop is to introduce youth to the techniques and nuances of drama-in-education. “Through this workshop, we will be focussing on drama and its application in teaching-learning process,” Khatana maintained.

Pertinent to mention here that after its inauguration in October this year this is the first formal activity of Theatre-in-Education Centre of the National School of Drama in Kashmir.

Among others, the inaugural function was attended by Academy’s Srinagar based senior functionaries besides teaching faculty of the NSD
