The Director Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare (AP&FWD) Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today inaugurated a Sprinkler Irrigation / Drip Irrigation System at Dadina, Budgam commissioned under Capex 2021-22.
On the occasion, the Director said that every effort is being made to promote an integrated model of farming and in this behalf today’s visit to the field of Gh Mustafa is a step towards that endeavor. He further added that the field situated at Dadina Budgam was abandoned Brick Kiln which has been reclaimed under National Adaptation for Climate Change (NAFCC) program.
He while interacting with progressive farmers of the village highlighted various important features of the Drip/ Sprinkler irrigation system. He said the drip irrigation system is a type of micro irrigation system that has the potential to save water and nutrients. He also said that drip irrigation focuses on enhancing water use efficiency at farm level.
Later, the Director had a detailed meeting with the representatives of the LULU group. He said that the department is continuously exploring new market opportunities for increasing the value of farmers and growers produce.
Director was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer Budgam, Assistant Soil Conservation Officer Budgam and other senior Officers of the district and field functionaries.
