A Non Governmental Organization (NGO) ‘Athrout’ distributed 50 oxygen concentrators among NGOs, based in Drass to Kulgam and Anantnag to Kupwara.
A total number of 11 districts of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir were covered under the gesture, where these oxygen concentrators are said to be shot in number as against the ratio needed.
The function was presided over by the Chairman of Athrout Bashir Ahmed, which was attended by dozens of NGO representatives of 22 NOGs, which benefited from the donation.
Bashir Ahmed, while giving a brief about the objectives behind the goodwill gesture said that initially the organization procured one machine and gave to the needy patients on nominal rent and together with investment from the organization and the rent collected more and more oxygen concentrators to contribute towards the fight against Covid-19.
“Today we have more than 300 oxygen concentrators, which are helping a great way in the fight against Covid-19,” adding that we have been successful in saving hundreds of lives of Covid victims and COPD patients with our intervention.The General Secretary Athrout, speaking on the occasion said, “Now our mission is to take the facility to far flung areas, where people lack facilities and are in bad need of these concentrators.”
The function was attended by few medical practitioners, who spoke about Covid-19 disease, precautions to avoid it and its treatment.
Dr. Sheikh Parvez highlighted the precautionary measures, during the use of oxygen concentrators.
