An ‘American Society for Microbiology’ sponsored Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) awareness Programme/Scientific Meet was organized by the Department of Bioresources, University of Kashmir at the Science Block Auditorium of the varsity.
The awareness program/ meet was attended by the scientists, health workers and research scholars from various departments of the University and from institutions like Govt. Medical College (GMC) Srinagar and SKUAST Kashmir etc.
During the program a detailed hands -on training on hygiene and control measures was provided to the participants. Safety precautions like availability of face masks, hand sanitizers and disinfection of the venue was adopted at the scientific meet.
Head Department of Community Medicine GMC Srinagar Prof. Shahzada Mohd Saleem Khan talked about the epidemiology of the Coronavirus pandemic while as Dr Inamul Haq gave detailed information, local hospital preparedness and hands on training as how to prevent the transmission of Coronavirus.
Virology Expert and DBT Welcome Trust Fellow from SKUAST Kashmir Dr Nadeem Shabir deliberated upon the Immunobiology of SARS CoV-2 Virus.
Earlier the programme started with the welcome address and introduction to Coronavirus by the Coordinator of Bioresources Department KU Dr Manzoor Ahmad Mir followed by introduction about American Society for Microbiology by ASM Young Ambassador to India Dr Peer Abdul Haseeb Shah.
The organizing secretary of the Program Dr Peer Abdul Haseeb Shah concluded the session with vote of thanks to all the participants.
