Eminent football player of Kashmir, Danish Farooq, who has played for J&K Bank and currently is Real Kashmir Football Club’s star midfielder, was selected for the State Award in the ‘Outstanding Sports Person Category’ for 2019.
Danish was among the other noted personalities in several categories, who made it to the list.
He would receive a cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal and a citation.
After playing in the local academy for two years, Danish was selected for J&K Bank football team. He won around 12 leagues and tournaments with J&K Bank Football club.
Thereafter, Danish’s played a stellar role in the second division I-League, where he scored many winners for Real Kashmir FC.
He was the top scorer for Real Kashmir FC with four goals along with three other players of the club in I-League second division last season.
Apart from Danish, Rasik Salam, the 17 year old cricketer from Kashmir was also selected for the State Award in the same category.
Rasik made his List A debut for Jammu & Kashmir in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. In December 2018, he was bought by the Mumbai Indians in the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League.
