DPS Srinagar wins national robotic challenge | also received overall best school outside Delhi/NCR award in the event

The  two students of the school Haider Javid and Absar Ahmad accompanied by teacher Mohammad Saleet have won the National Robotic Line Follower challenge at DPS R K Puram.

“22 teams participated in the challenge with their automatic and intelligent robots where the school’s entry outperformed others in all the laps. The school has also received overall best school outside Delhi/NCR award in the event,” the spokesman in a statement said.

“The competition was part of  ExunClan – an annual national event held in Delhi where top schools of the country participate to compete in various areas of technology,” he said.

“In the segment, which our students won, the participants had to make their robots traverse complex lines by sensing the line beneath and make turns accordingly. Our award-winning robot was able to accomplish this without a  glitch in the least time,” he added.

Speaking on the achievement,  the Chief  Technology Officer, Ehsan Quddusi said, “Our robot was made in-house by students and outperformed commercial robots bought by other participants. The students worked on multiple variants of the bot to make it more efficient and increase its intelligent algorithm. The sensors mounted on the robot continuously provide vital data to its microprocessor to take intelligent decisions, 1000 per second.”

The Principal, Alistair R A Freese congratulated the students, and said: “it is a testimony to the immense effort put in by the school to put an edge to the brightest minds in the valley.”

Chairman, Vijay Dhar too congratulated the students and said: “I am delighted to hear that the school is proving true it’s motto of serving the society unconditionally. The future is AI and we are equipping our children with the skill to exploit artificial intelligence within the school.”

While emphasizing on the benefits of AI, he said, “Schools need to take more advantage of AI’s teaching capabilities as machine learning can play a vital role to track individualized learning very proficiently.”
