SRINAGAR: Kawsar Manzoor and Zoobiya Tariq bagged Junior boys and girls titles respectively in the swimming competition which was organised by Directorate of Tourism (Kashmir) in collaboration with Swim N Survive Society at Nigeen, here.
Both the swimmers excelled in the 500 meters Free Style event. In all, 80 swimmers took part in this event under the supervision of Riyaz Wani.
The Sub-junior boys’ 500 mtrs title went to Omer Tariq Bhat. In Sub-junior boys’ 50 mts event, Aatif Qureshi won the first place while Musaib was runners-up. Aaqila claimed the 50 mtrs girls sub-junior gold.
The winners and runners-up of different age groups were given away the prizes by Society Senior Vice-President, Dr. Sheikh Tariq; Vice President, Syed Shahid Zadie; Riyaz Wani, Joint Secretary, Abid Amin and Secretary Yasir Makhdoomi as also Zahid Iqbal.
Also present on the occasion, President Swim N Survive, Mushtaq Wani appreciated the young swimmers for their competitive spirit.
It is worth to mention that Department of Tourism (Kashmir) in collaboration with Swim N Survive Society (K) has trained around 200 non-swimmers, 50 swimmers for rescue this year.
