4 J&K hospitals figure in top 20 across country

Four hospitals, equipped with the Scan & Share Queue Management System under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), have catapulted into the ranks of the nation’s top 20 best-performing healthcare institutions in terms of token generation.
The achievement coincides with the expansion of the digital initiative’s footprint, now stretching to the remote Uri situated just a few kilometres away from the Line of Control (LoC).
The released list of top-performing hospitals places Government Medical College (GMC), Baramulla at an impressive 5th position, followed by GMC Rajouri at 12th, Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital, Srinagar at 19th, and Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital, Jammu at the 20th spot.
The officials said that these hospitals have exhibited commendable performance, with the number of outpatient department (OPD) tokens generated through the Scan & Share Queue Management System consistently increasing day by day while noting that the ranking is based on the number of tokens generated on a specific date, August 12, 2023.
Notable statistics from this initiative reveal GMC Baramulla as the frontrunner in J&K, generating a record-breaking 1059 tokens in a single day, the highest within the Union Territory. Following closely, GMC Rajouri generated 741 tokens, SMHS Hospital in Srinagar produced 642 tokens, and SMGS Hospital in Jammu contributed 634 tokens. The national highest for token generation on that day stood at 3611, achieved by AIIMS, Delhi.
Throughout the same day, other hospitals actively participated in the token generation effort, with 529 tokens at GMCH Jammu, 472 at GMC Kathua, 332 at Super Specialty Hospital Jammu, 331 at GMC Anantnag, 251 at Govt LD Hospital Srinagar, 238 at Super Speciality Hospital, Srinagar, 235 at GMC Udhampur, 187 at GMC Handwara, 164 at Government Children Hospital Srinagar, 163 at Government Dental College Srinagar, 106 at Government Dental College Jammu, 100 tokens at Bone & Joint Hospital Srinagar, 87 at Chest Diseases Hospital Srinagar, 77 at Psychiarty Disease Hospital Jammu, 49 at Psychiarty Disease Hospital Srinagar, 45 at Chest Disease Hospital Jammu, 39 at Government Kashmir Nursing Home and just 5 tokens at GMC Doda.
Remarkably, the Scan & Share facility’s expansion has now reached Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Uri, nearly 20 kilometres away from the LoC. This move, officials said, aims to provide residents access to seamless healthcare services under the ABDM, ensuring a convenient experience for them.
Bhupinder Kumar, the Secretary of the Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department, underscored the Government’s commitment to transformation, emphasizing the implementation of a seamless, transparent, and accountable healthcare system prioritizing hassle-free services for all.
“We are embarking on a transformational journey, revolutionizing the very fabric of healthcare delivery. Our goal is to create a seamless, crystal-clear, and resolutely accountable process, dedicated to providing the people with effortlessly accessible services,” he asserted.
Dr Shafqat Khan, Additional Mission Director for ABDM in J&K, emphasized the broad reach of the digital health revolution, even to the most remote communities, ensuring that every individual experiences its transformative potential.
“The digital health revolution will be taken to the furthest corners of J&K, with a steadfast commitment to ensuring that the people fully benefit from this transformative initiative.”
