25 new e-buses to reach Srinagar next week..

In a move to enhance public transport in Srinagar, 25 e-buses are set to be added to the existing fleet next week, officials said.
The general manager of Smart City Srinagar, Anuj Malhotra, said that in the coming week, Srinagar will have an additional 25 e-buses, which will ply on various routes to Srinagar, and nearby districts of Srinagar.

The official mentioned that these buses have reached Jammu, and in the coming week, they will reach the valley. “We currently have 75 e-buses that are plying on city routes, and with these additional 25 buses, we will have 100 buses. We are confident these buses will provide a major breather to city residents.”

On being asked whether these buses can cater to the whole city’s routes or if there is a need for additional buses, the general manager said there is a need for 550 buses alone in Srinagar city to cater to the entire city’s transport.
He added that the prime minister is also showing interest in procuring these buses, and they are hopeful that in the coming years, there will be a sufficient number of buses available.

In the past years, Srinagar under the Smart City Project has had 75 e-buses, and in the coming week, it will get an additional 25 buses, which will improve the city’s public transport. The existing buses have provided major relief to city commuters.

Srinagar was grappling with transport issues in the winter, especially after sunset. However, since these e-buses have been made operational, there has been significant relief for commuters and a positive impact on the environment.

Shabir Ahmad, a local of Parimpora who runs a shop in Lal Chowk, told Rising Kashmir that they were facing a transport dearth in the evening regularly. However, since these e-buses were introduced, he said they remain available until late at night, providing major relief to the people in general.
