20th Asian Games Wushu Ranking Tournament Commences

The Wushu Ranking Tournament for the upcoming 20th Asian Games 2026 commenced at the Indoor Hall, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, featuring a high-octane display of skill and determination from over 100 athletes representing states across the country.

The event saw top-ranked national players competing in pre-quarterfinals, quarterfinals and semifinals, with several junior athletes delivering impressive performances by defeating higher-ranked opponents, highlighting emerging talent.

The Wushu Association of India (WAI) will shortlist 15 probables under the Target Olympic Podium (TAGG) Scheme and select four athletes for the national coaching camp at an SAI centre. A 60-day foreign exposure camp in China is also being proposed, tentatively starting mid-December.

The tournament was inaugurated by Vijay Saraf, Secretary General, WAI, in the presence of Suhel Ahmed, CEO, WAI and Kuldeep Handoo, Chief Coach and Selector, who thanked the Association for choosing Jammu & Kashmir as the venue. A physical test for all athletes was conducted yesterday at the Jammu University synthetic track to aid the selection process for the national squad.
