A 14-year-old boy from Gopalpora village in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district is the youngest player to participate in the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL), which will start on March 6th in Mumbai.
Sharik Yasir, a wicketkeeper-batsman, has been secured by Bangalore Strikers in the inaugural ISPL 2024 auction. He is an under-19 cricketer who has secured a prize of 3.20 lakhs in the auction. The ISPL is a T10 game that will be hosted in Mumbai.

Sharik told Rising Kashmir that he’s currently in 9th grade at the local Government High School in Gopalpora and he is playing cricket from a very tender age.
He’s just 14 years old, the youngest player featuring in the auction. He was bought for INR 3.2 lakh by ‘Bangalore Strikers,’ owned by Hrithik Roshan.

“I will be in Mumbai after some days, and I hope this helps me to become a professional cricketer and the interaction with legends of the game there will surely boost my morale,” Sharik said.
Rather Reyaz, his teacher, and uncle said that Sharik is good in studies and was good in cricket too.
“He will shine bright; our prayers are with him. The selection will help him explore his cricket journey,” he said.

He said, Sharik’s father is an Imam, and he submitted the ISPL form of his son and has been his support system. This is how you support your ward to pursue passion.

Meanwhile, Imran Nabi Dar, State Spokesperson J&K National Conference, extended his congratulations to Sharik and expressed that the opportunity will help him in future endeavors.

“Congratulations to young Sharik, who will surely become a role model for children of his age. Many congratulations to his parents too. I am sure this is just the start. Praying for his long and successful career ahead,” he added.
