The 10th UT Canoe Sprint Championship, a two-day event organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Water Sports Kayaking and Canoeing Association (JKWKCA), concluded today at Pakhribal Lake, Srinagar. The championship showcased both men’s and women’s events, drawing over 200 participants from across the Kashmir division.
The event featured 500-meter races across various categories, attracting water sports enthusiasts and accomplished athletes alike. Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to compete and develop their skills in a supportive environment, highlighting the championship’s role in nurturing young talent and promoting an active lifestyle among the region’s youth.
As the championship wrapped up, a prize distribution and valedictory function was held, graced by several prominent figures. In attendance were Bilquis Mir, Olympic jury member; Seema, Vice President of JKWKCA; Bilal Bhat; and Rafiq Khan, National Technical Official.
The organizers emphasized that this championship serves as a qualifying event for the Canoe Sprint National Championship, scheduled to be held in Uttarakhand later this year. Victorious participants will have the opportunity to represent Jammu and Kashmir at the national level.
